School of Public Health, Walailak University Students Shine at National Public Health Competition

A group of students from the School of Public Health at Walailak University made their mark at the prestigious academic competition held by the Thai Public Health and Health Science Student Association (TPHHSSA), hosted this year by Phayao University on January 3-4, 2024. The competition, a significant event in the academic calendar for public health students across Thailand, saw participants from various universities vying for top honors in several categories. Walailak University was represented in three major segments, showcasing the diverse talents and academic prowess of its students. In the speech contest, Ms. Aleeya Promthida and Mr. Natthapon Chorphaka tackled the critical issue of ""Global Health Security,"" demonstrating their deep understanding and concern for global health challenges. Their presentations were noted for their clarity, depth, and relevance, addressing the complexities of health security in today's interconnected world. The creative media section saw innovative entries from Walailak's students, with Ms. Nadia Borsu creating a compelling TikTok video on ""National Health Awareness Everyone Should Know."" Her creative approach to disseminating important health information captured the audience's attention and highlighted the importance of public health knowledge in the digital age. In the poster competition, a team comprising Mr. Kittipob Jitrada, Ms. Piyakorn Temlucksamee, and Ms. Rujigorn Nualmee presented on ""Good Health and Well-being."" Their poster stood out for its artistic merit and effective communication of essential health and wellness concepts, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals. Furthermore, Walailak University made a significant contribution to the research segment, with Miss Sarisa Kaewkheiw presenting a pioneering study titled ""Proactive Health Services: a Prototype Work-Related Self-Care Program for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome among Non-Medical Personnel at Changhua Christian Hospital."" Her research, aimed at improving workplace health, particularly among non-medical staff, was praised for its innovation and practical application in preventing work-related health issues. The participation and success of Walailak University students at this year's TPHHSSA competition underscore the institution's commitment to advancing public health education and research. It also highlights the students' dedication and ability to contribute meaningfully to the field of public health, both nationally and globally.
