Walailak Public Health Shares Food Sanitation Expertise to Support Safer Fresh Markets in Nakhon Si Thammarat

The School of Public Health, Walailak University, contributed its academic expertise to a local initiative aimed at improving food sanitation and safety standards in fresh markets across Nakhon Si Thammarat Municipality. On 22 May 2026, Asst. Prof. Dr. Prasert Makkaew, Vice Dean of the School of Public Health, was invited by Nakhon Si Thammarat City Municipality to deliver a lecture on “Principles of Food Sanitation and Food Sanitation Standards for Food Establishments.” The session was held at the municipality’s fifth-floor conference room. The lecture was part of the Fresh Market Promotion and Development Project, organized by the Division of Public Health and Environment, Nakhon Si Thammarat City Municipality. The program provided market operators and food handlers with practical knowledge of proper food sanitation practices and standards that can be applied in their daily operations. A total of 100 market operators and food handlers participated in the training. The activity brought academic expertise directly into the local food system, supporting safer food handling practices and better sanitary conditions in markets serving communities across Nakhon Si Thammarat.
