Assoc. Prof. Jarunet Petchchu Presents Research on Reducing High-Sodium Foods for Better Health
Assistant Professor Jarunet Petchchu from School of Public Health, Walailak University, recently unveiled her latest research at the Health Forum of the South and Southeast Asia Medical and Medical Education and Service Alliance and the 2024 Annual Academic Conference of the National Medical Humanities Education Alliance of Regional Colleges and Universities held in Kunming, China. Her research, titled “Sodium in Thai Traditional Food and Factors Influencing Sodium Consumption Behaviors among People with Hypertension in Upper Southern Thailand”, focuses on the high sodium content in traditional Thai foods and the factors affecting sodium consumption behaviors among people with hypertension in Upper Southern Thailand. Based on her findings, Assoc. Prof. Jarunet encourages consumers to be mindful when choosing foods and to reduce unnecessary sodium intake to prevent hypertension and other health conditions linked to excessive sodium consumption. Her research received considerable attention at the conference and is expected to provide valuable guidance for improving dietary habits in Thai society and promoting better health and wellness. This presentation marks a proud moment for School of Public Health, Walailak University, as it contributes valuable research to the international stage and benefits society with impactful findings.
