PHWU Deputy Dean Joins Regional Forum on Road Safety and Occupational Health

Assistant Professor Dr. Junjira Mahaboon, Deputy Dean of the School of Public Health, Walailak University, participated in the 2026 Regional Academic Seminar on Occupational Safety and Health, held on August 5–6, 2026, at Prince of Songkla University, Surat Thani Campus. She also joined the panel discussion “Road Safety: Safe Roads for a Sustainable Thai Society,” sharing perspectives on current road safety challenges and approaches to prevention. The seminar was organized by the Thailand Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Public Organization), or T-OSH, a public organization under the supervision of Thailand’s Ministry of Labour. It brought together academics, safety professionals and partner organizations to exchange knowledge and practical approaches to reducing risks associated with work and travel. During the Road Safety session, Dr. Junjira discussed issues related to road-user behavior, safety awareness among younger generations, and the role of universities and organizations in building a stronger safety culture. The discussion emphasized that road traffic injury prevention requires attention to both individual behavior and the systems and environments in which people travel. For the School of Public Health, road safety is closely connected to injury prevention, occupational health and health promotion. Bringing these areas together helps prepare public health professionals to identify risks, develop preventive measures and contribute to safer communities.
