PHWU Welcomes Kunming Medical University Students to Thailand for KMU–PHWU Student Mobility Program 2026

The School of Public Health, Walailak University (PHWU) welcomed faculty members and students from the School of Public Health, Kunming Medical University (KMU), China, to the KMU–PHWU Student Mobility Program 2026, held from August 2–14, 2026. The program brings students from Thailand and China together under three themes: Sharing Knowledge, Inspiring the Future, and Building Friendship. During the Welcome Ceremony, faculty members and students from both universities met and began their academic and cultural exchange activities. The program also received the honor of having the President of the Provincial Administrative Organization join participants for a commemorative group photo. Throughout the two-week program, KMU students are learning about Thailand’s public health system through academic sessions, exchanges with PHWU students, and community-based learning. One of the field visits took the KMU delegation to Pak Phun Health Promoting Hospital, where students explored primary healthcare services and community health practice. They also learned about the health development vision of Pak Phun Municipality, shared by Mayor “Poo,” providing a local perspective on how health services, communities, and local government work together. The mobility program gives students from both universities opportunities to compare public health approaches, exchange ideas with peers and practitioners, and gain experience in an international learning environment. The KMU–PHWU Student Mobility Program 2026 forms part of the growing academic collaboration between Walailak University and Kunming Medical University, connecting public health education with community experience and strengthening relationships between the next generation of health professionals in Thailand and China.
