PHWU Strengthens Global Research Engagement with Visiting Professor from the UK, Advancing Evidence-Based Practice

The School of Public Health, Walailak University (PHWU), welcomed Professor Dr. Jim Richards from the University of Lancashire, United Kingdom, during his visit on 19–20 February 2026, reinforcing international academic collaboration and research engagement. The visit began with an official reception by the Vice Dean, followed by presentations outlining the School’s academic profile and the Occupational Health and Safety (OCC) program. The session provided a platform for in-depth discussion on teaching innovation and research development. Professor Richards delivered a keynote lecture titled “Evidence-Based Practice and Using Research to Inform Practice,” emphasizing the integration of research evidence into public health practice. The session also included an interactive discussion on strategies for successful grant applications and opportunities for international research funding. As part of the visit, Professor Richards toured the School’s Occupational Health and Safety laboratories, gaining insights into the teaching and learning infrastructure supporting student training. The visit covered facilities and equipment across key areas, including industrial hygiene, safety engineering, and ergonomics and health, highlighting PHWU’s commitment to practice-based and interdisciplinary education. This visit represents a significant step in expanding global academic partnerships and enhancing PHWU’s capacity in research and education within an international context.
