From Walailak to the World: PHWU Student Joins Global Research at University of Yamanashi

We proudly congratulate Mr. Nitiphum Palawan, a 4th-year Environmental Health student from the School of Public Health, Walailak University (PHWU), who has embarked on his cooperative education internship at the Interdisciplinary Centre for River Basin Environment (ICRE), University of Yamanashi, Japan. Under the supervision of Prof. Eiji Haramoto, a world-renowned expert in health-related microorganisms in aquatic environments, Nitiphum is engaged in research focusing on antibiotic-resistant bacteria and Microbial Source Tracking (MST) in natural water bodies in Yamanashi Prefecture. What makes this experience even more special is the support from Ms. Yardpirun Siri, a beloved PHWU alumna currently pursuing her 3rd-year Ph.D. under Prof. Haramoto’s mentorship. She is actively guiding and mentoring Nitiphum throughout his internship alongside graduate students and researchers at Haramoto’s Lab. We wish Nitiphum a fruitful journey of learning and growth and look forward to seeing him bring back innovative environmental health solutions to Thailand!
