Asst. Prof. Dr. Prasert Makkaew Speaks at National Seminar on Antimicrobial Resistance
On June 12, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prasert Makkaew, Deputy Dean of the School of Public Health, was a keynote speaker at the 4th National Seminar on Antimicrobial Resistance held at the Cattleya Meeting Room, Rama Gardens Hotel, Bangkok. The event was chaired by Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin, Minister of Public Health.
During the seminar, Asst. Prof. Dr. Prasert delivered a lecture titled ""Addressing AMR in Environmental Contexts: Current Insights and Future Directions,"" where he shared insights and strategic approaches to addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) within environmental settings, an increasingly significant public health concern.
The seminar was organized by the Ministry of Public Health in collaboration with more than 30 partnering organizations, including the Health Promotion Fund Office, the Public Health and Development Foundation, and the Mahidol-Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University. The event was part of a collaborative effort under the theme ""Save Lives Fight Resistance"" and served as a crucial platform for exchanging academic information and situational updates on AMR both locally and globally. It also officially kicked off the implementation of the National Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance, Edition 2, B.E. 2566.
The seminar garnered positive responses from public health experts across the country and played a vital role in shaping policies to enhance national health security against antimicrobial resistance, further strengthening the health stability of the Thai population.
