Walailak Public Health Students Mark a New Step towards Professional Practice

On 29 November 2025, the School of Public Health, Walailak University, held its “Pathway to the Profession” ceremony at the Thaiburi Building, bringing together faculty members, students and families to mark an important stage in the students’ professional education. The ceremony was presided over by the Dean of the School of Public Health, Assistant Professor Dr. Supaporn Yimthiang. A central part of the ceremony was the presentation of professional practice uniforms to second-year students from the School’s three programmes: Environmental Health and Technology, Occupational Health and Safety, and Community Public Health. The presentation marks the students’ transition into a more intensive stage of professional learning and practical training. Beyond its role as a uniform for practical work, the professional attire represents the responsibilities students will increasingly take on as they develop the knowledge, practical skills and professional values required for careers in public health. The programme also brought faculty members and families into this important milestone through activities centred on encouragement, professional identity and the students’ future paths. Among them were sessions dedicated to messages from families and teachers, as well as an activity inspired by the legacy of Prince Mahidol of Songkla, widely regarded as the Father of Modern Medicine and Public Health in Thailand. Through the ceremony, the School of Public Health connects academic preparation with professional identity, giving students an opportunity to recognise both the privilege and responsibility that come with entering the next stage of their public health education.
