School of Public Health, Walailak University Receives National Recognition for Rational Drug Use Education

School of Public Health, Walailak University, received the “Model Educational Institution for Rational Drug Use Education – Good Level” Award for Academic Year 2026 from the Thai Food and Drug Administration (Thai FDA), Ministry of Public Health. Asst. Prof. Dr. Phiman Thirarattanasunthon, Head of the Community Public Health Department, represented the School at the award ceremony held during the 2026 national seminar on advancing rational drug use in Thailand, from July 8–9, 2026, at Centara Life Government Complex Hotel & Convention Centre Chaeng Watthana, Bangkok. His name and position follow the School’s official English-language directory. The award recognizes educational institutions that integrate Rational Drug Use (RDU) into teaching and learning. At Walailak University, public health students are trained to understand the appropriate and safe use of medicines and to apply this knowledge when working with individuals, families, communities, and the health system. For community public health professionals, medication literacy is closely connected to everyday practice, including health education, promoting appropriate medicine use, identifying potentially inappropriate medication practices, and collaborating with other health professionals. The recognition marks the School’s continuing work to prepare public health graduates with the knowledge and practical skills needed to support safe, appropriate, and responsible medicine use in communities.
