Walailak University Public Health Students Gain Research Experience at UOEH, Japan

Ms. Phattharathida Phatthanathani and Mr. Akkharawin Suchatiphong, students from the School of Public Health, Walailak University, undertook short-term research and laboratory training at the University of Occupational and Environmental Health (UOEH), Japan, from June 21–28, 2026, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Phisit Pouyfung. During their stay at UOEH, the students gained first-hand experience of research procedures and laboratory practice in an international academic environment. They also exchanged knowledge with UOEH faculty members and researchers and learned about laboratory management and research culture in Japan. The training allowed the students to apply knowledge from their university studies in a research setting while developing scientific communication and cross-cultural working skills. It also builds on academic links between the School of Public Health and UOEH, where Walailak University faculty members have previously undertaken research and academic mobility activities. The program is part of the School of Public Health’s efforts to connect undergraduate education with international research environments and expand opportunities for future academic and research collaboration.
