PHWU x UPM: Advancing Academic Collaboration in Health Sciences
On February 25, 2025, Asst. Prof. Dr. Supaphorn Yimthiang, Dean of the School of Public Health, Walailak University (PHWU), led a delegation of executives and faculty members on an official visit to the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The purpose of the visit was to engage in a knowledge-sharing session focused on strengthening teaching, research, and academic collaboration between the two institutions. The exchange featured several insightful discussions, particularly on student affairs and student support systems highlighting the importance of holistic student development in both academic and practical contexts. This visit marked a significant step in reinforcing the longstanding academic ties between PHWU and UPM. It also laid the groundwork for future collaborations in areas such as joint research projects, faculty exchange programs, and academic cooperation in public health and medical sciences. Notably, this partnership builds on previous initiatives, including ongoing ergonomic research and co-operative education placements of PHWU students at Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, which operates under UPM’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The visit emphasized mutual commitment to expanding the depth and breadth of academic partnership setting the stage for more impactful and inclusive international cooperation in the years to come.
