School of Public Health and Konhenkon Foundation Unite for Disaster Preparedness in Southern Thailand
On June 26, 2025, at the Sri Thammarat Raticha Room, School of Public Health, Walailak University, in collaboration with the Konhenkon Foundation, hosted a workshop titled "Developing Projects to Cope with Disasters in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province and Upper Southern Thailand." The event was supported by the Environmental and Climate Change Fund Group. Asst. Prof. Dr. Supabhorn Yimthiang, Dean of School of Public Health, opened the workshop by stating that the event aimed to develop collaborative plans among various sectors, including government agencies, the private sector, academia, and local organizations. This initiative is designed to reduce the risks of potential disasters in the area. The workshop is considered a significant step in building policy and practical cooperation to address disasters in a systematic and sustainable manner. Building on the success of the "Uniting Nakhon Si Thammarat for the Upcoming Disasters" event held in May, which saw over 140 participants and 48 project concepts submitted, this workshop demonstrated that the "Mind Storming" process can effectively connect different plans, reduce redundancy, and lead to the design of projects that truly meet local needs. A key objective of this workshop is to ensure that "every sector takes ownership" of the disaster management plan, thereby enhancing the safety and well-being of the local population both now and in the future.
