PHWU Students Excel in International Research Collaboration

The School of Public Health, Walailak University, is proud to congratulate Mr. Nitiphum Palawan and Mr. Nasna-eem Hulusalaeh, fourth-year students from the Environmental Health and Technology program, for successfully completing their summer internship at the Biotechnology Research Laboratory, Chulabhorn Research Institute. During their internship, the students worked under the supervision of Dr. Kwanrawee Sirikanchana, a researcher specializing in indicator and pathogenic microorganisms in water. This opportunity not only allowed them to learn and gain hands-on experience in a professional research environment but also to network with Walailak University's environmental health alumni who are currently working at the institute. This internship was highly beneficial in preparing them for their future careers. Furthermore, Mr. Nitiphum and Mr. Nasna-eem participated in the ""Bacterial isolation and antimicrobial susceptibility testing within the One Health framework"" workshop, held at the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University. This workshop was part of a major international research project titled ""A One Health Framework to Assess the Risks of Antimicrobial Resistance in Aquatic Ecosystems in North East Thailand,"" funded by the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). The research project is a collaborative effort involving leading researchers from various national and international institutions, including the Chulabhorn Research Institute, Chulalongkorn University, Chiang Mai University, Mahasarakham University, University of Glasgow, and University of Stirling from the United Kingdom. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Win Surachetpong from Kasetsart University serves as the International Co-Leader. The students' participation in such a high-level academic activity confirms the School of Public Health's commitment to continuously providing opportunities for its students to develop their potential and become leaders in environmental health research, contributing positively to society in the future.
