PHWU Partners with Konhenkon Foundation and ThaiHealth to Advance Sustainable Disaster Preparedness

On April 23, 2025, the School of Public Health, Walailak University, held a strategic planning meeting with the Konhenkon Foundation, supported by the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), to explore collaborative approaches in strengthening disaster preparedness and resilience. The meeting was chaired by Asst. Prof. Dr. Supabhorn Yimthiang, Dean of the School of Public Health, and joined by Asst. Prof. Uraiwan Madardam and Aj. Rachan Chuancharoen, who contributed to the discussions with insightful perspectives from academic and public health practice. The session focused on enhancing the capacity of public health personnel to respond effectively to emergencies, improving early warning systems at the community level, and designing structured plans for community recovery after disasters. Emphasis was placed on fostering community participation, multisectoral collaboration, and localized engagement as essential components of a sustainable and integrated disaster risk management system. This initiative underscores the School’s commitment to long-term public health resilience and its alignment with the guiding principle of Prince Mahidol of Songkla: “Our Soul is for the Benefit of Mankind.” Through this collaborative endeavor, the School of Public Health reaffirms its dedication to advancing knowledge, preparing communities for emerging challenges, and contributing to the well-being of society through sustainable, community-centered health strategies.
