Walailak University’s School of Public Health Hosts Thailand’s First National Public Health Academic Competition for High School Students
On June 21, 2024, the School of Public Health at Walailak University organized the prestigious Public Health Contest for high school students. This competition, held at the Chulabhorn Vejwattana Building of Walailak University Medical Center, marked the first-ever national public health academic contest for high school students in Thailand. Contestants vied for the coveted trophy presented by HRH Princess Adityadhornkitikhun. The day began with a ceremonial procession, bringing the trophy from the School of Public Health building to the competition venue. Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, Acting President of Walailak University, expressed gratitude for the royal patronage in his opening remarks. The opening ceremony was graced by Mr. Sritham Rakkaew, Deputy Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat, who presided over the event. The competition aimed to enhance academic skills in public health and 21st-century learning among high school students. It also sought to raise awareness of the importance of public health in national development. The finals drew over 900 participants, including students, teachers, and parents from schools nationwide. The competition was divided into four categories: Public Health Project, Public Health Quiz, Public Health Short Video, and English Speech Contest. Participants from all schools showcased their full potential and demonstrated exceptional skills in their respective categories.
